This modern countryside house, has generous sized rooms with high ceilings and large windows, and the client wanted to create a more inviting and cosier space to relax in when spending time in their living room.

A fireplace sits proudly in the centre of the room, so we decided that some cupboards set into the alcoves either side with bookcases on top would give them somewhere to showcase all of their wonderful ornaments, range of coffee table books, and pieces of art. Whilst having the cupboards below also enabled them to hide away everyday objects and have a place for media boxes and consoles

The alcove cupboards are designed in a bespoke shaker style with modern elements, like the flawless low sheen spray finish which feels more suited to this immaculate setting than a traditional hand painted finish would. Another modern twist was not to use traditional mouldings, which can be a bit fussy, clean lines and some softened bevels work really well here allowing the clients belongings to stand out. A lovely dark colour by Graham and Brown called Tattoo, which is a soft black was chosen for this cabinetry, and looks very sophisticated in this room with lots of natural light.
