This bespoke bookcase was designed to fit into a small awkward space with a low sloping ceiling in a children’s bedroom.

Having already designed and built bespoke angled wardrobes for the same bedroom, it was important the handmade bookcase continued the design style.

The bookcase is split into two sections like a conventional dresser. The shallow top half is configured into different-sized pigeon holes to store audiobook CDs, books and small toys. The deeper bottom half contains two big storage drawers. Inside each drawer are dividers allowing for sectioned storage of larger books, toys and clothing. The clear-coated solid oak worktop offers warmth and contrast against the Farrow & Ball ‘Stiffkey Blue’ and ‘Ammonite’ hand-sprayed painted sections. The final touch includes a 45 degree bevel to soften the edge of the worktop.
